Re-issue of Passport under Tatkaal Scheme

If the applicant wants his/her passport to be issued ahead if the prescribed time, he/she can apply for the same under the Tatkaal Scheme. The documents required are the same as required for the re-issue of the passport with some extra verification documents.

The following documents are required for the re-issue of passport under Tatkaal Scheme:

  • The applicant is required to submit a present address proof in case the address in the old passport is different from the present address.
  • The applicant must submit the Original passport along with two copies of the first two and last two pages of the old passport which are attested by the applicant.
  • Photocopy of the Emigration Check Required (ECR)/Non Emigration Check Required (Non ECR) page.
  • Photocopy of the observation page, if any, made by the Passport Issuing Authority and the validity extension page, if any, in case of short validity passport.
  • Passport details of both the parents. In case the applicant is a minor and if either or both of the parents hold a valid passport.
  • Standard Affidavit as per Annexure I and a Verification Certificate as per Annexure F or any 3 documents out of the following 15:
    • EPIC OR Electors Photo Identity Card
    • Service Photo Identity Card issued by State/Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, local bodies or Public Limited Companies.
    • SC/ST/OBC Certificates.
    • Freedom Fighter Identity Cards
    • Arms Licenses
    • Property documents like Pattas, etc.
    • Ration Cards
    • Pension documents such as ex-servicemen’s pension book/Pension Payment order/ex-servicemen’s widow/Dependent Certificates, Old age Pension Order, Widow Pension Order
    • Railway Identity Cards
    • PAN Card or Income Tax Identity Cards
    • Bank/Kisan/Post Office Passbooks
    • Student Photo Identity Cards issued by Government Recognized Educational Institution for full time courses
    • Driving Licenses (valid and within the jurisdiction of State of submission of application)
    • Birth Certificates issued under the RBD Act
    • Gas connection (1 year before and current)

Note: The documents should be the original copy and should be attested by the applicant and at least one photo identity proof is required out of the three.

There are two types of applications under this scheme:

  • One where police verification is not required. In this case the applicant’s passport is dispatched within one working day after the day of submission of successful application.
  • Second where police verification is required on post issuance of the passport basis, the passport is expected to be dispatched on the third working day after the application, without waiting for the police verification report.
