What is A Passport Seva Kendra

The Passport Seva Kendras by the external affairs ministry offer different kinds of facilities to Indian citizen regarding their passport application and other related services. Most of the PSKs in the country offer normal as well as tatkal passport services online. These portals can be used by any Indian citizen for issuing of new passports as well as renewal and reissuing of old passports and a number of other services. For issuance and reissuing of passports one is required to fill up application form that is consisted of two separate forms

  • Passport Application Form
  • Supplementary form

One is required to fill the orientations for columns in supplementary form. One is also required to fill up only the fields which are applicable to him and others must be left blank. Apart from issuing and reissuing of passports the Passport Seva Kendras also offer some miscellaneous services like issuing the PCC or Police Clearance Certificate but for the PCC one is required to fill up and submit a different form.

Apply to a PSK

According to the new passport issuing system of the country one can forward a completed passport application form in any of the bellow mentioned locations

  • Passport Seva Kendra or Mini PSK in the authority of his local passport office
  • At the District Passport Cell
  • In any speed post centre of the district from where the candidate is
  • And also in any Citizen Service Center in his locality.

Though the PSKs offered almost every kind of passport related services, the services offered by the other organizations are limited and only new passport applications would be submitted in the other locations except the Passport Seva Kendra. To submit a passport application to the PSK one needed to attach with the form self attested copy of all the documents and for the list of documents that one is required to attach with application form or require to carry in original while one submits the form in person can be found at the official website of the ministry of external affairs.

Few Important Things

Under the new system of issuing passports physical presence of all applicants including infants is mandatory while submitting application form in any of the passport seva Kendra that must come within the jurisdiction of his regional passport office or in any other location such as the Citizen Service Center or the District Passport cell. But if one had applied for his passport before the introduction of the new system he is not required to apply it again. Anybody under an age of 18 is considered as minor while issuing passport and according to the new law endorsing is not possible anymore and even a minor is required to have a Minor’s Passport.
